Mission/Vision

Indigenous women holding hands

At Awasqa (“weave” or “knitting” in Kichwa)/the Green Network Project we seek to create an international community journalism network by breaking linguistic barriers between indigenous communities in the Northern and Southern hemispheres, to share stories of radical resilience and foster a new vision of hope and deep intergenerational change.

We recognize that our communities have fought for millennia colonialism, extractivism, and unjust/racist policies that see Mother Earth / Pachamama as an unlimited resource. These same communities are among the most impacted by the climate crisis, yet hold much of the wisdom the world community needs to protect our planet.

We believe that our survival and all life on earth, depend on a deep paradigm shift that transforms us collectively from victims into visionaries, from defenders into architects of change.

“I’m the physical manifestation of my ancestors’ dreams.”
